Siobhan McMahon (born 4 July 1984) is a Scottish Labour Party Member of the Scottish Parliament for the Central Scotland region.[1]

Political career

McMahon is supporting Johann Lamont MSP to become Scottish Labour's leader.

Labour Party researcher

Controversially, McMahon previously worked as a paid researcher for her serving MSP father, Michael McMahon.[2] After the Scottish Parliament Election in 2011 Siobhan, despite being handicapped, was elected as a regional list MSP and they became the first father and daughter pair to serve in the Scottish Parliament.[3]

She has also worked for Labour MP Jim Murphy and as part of the Labour Support Unit in the Scottish Parliament.

Personal life

McMahon graduated from Glasgow Caledonian University with a 2.1 BA Honours in Politics with History and Sociology in 2006.

She is a member of the GMB trade union and is interested in the politics of South Africa.
